The Story of Adam and Anna

Before He met Anna, Adam was doing all right

He was independant

Always hangin with the boys

And life was good

But then he realized that he was sad and alone

He Felt trapped, and was scared

He needed someone to take care of him

He tried to find love, but had no luck

Anna, meanwhile, came over here from the Soviet Union

She was a very pretty girl

Who grew up to be a stunning young lady

She was also enjoying life, hanging out with her friends

Dancing, and having a great time

But Anna also felt alone

Meanwhile, Adam was living in Brooklyn, unable to find a girl

And the few girls he did find were, um, not so great . . .

Then one day, Adam saw Anna

He was totally AMAZED

He way stunned by her beauty

He was mesmerized by her

He fell in love immediately

Anna was not so sure

She didnt think they were a good fit.  for instance, Adam loves Sand Castles.  Anna . . .

Adam never seemed to be able to win ANY arguments, even in spanish

But Adam did make her laugh . . .

Suddenly, Anna realized that she loved Adam too.  This was Shocking to her

They decided to get together

Soon, they were like 2 peas in a pod

A match made in heaven

They even got a Kitten

 

But then the kitten grew up and got attitude

Soon, they decided to get married

and have babies

lots of 'em

Also maybe some bunnies, cuz they are damn cute

And live Happily ever after.  the end

Engagement story!

So:  first I designed a ring with Anna's uncle who is a jewler.  This took 6 months. It was really, really hard to do, but came out pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Then, when the ring arrived, I took anna on a ‘date’ after work.  She had never seen the cherry blossom festival, so we went. all these Cherry trees were blooming on the water. i suprised her with a picnic.  we had wine, cheese, jazz, a blanket on the water.  Sunset over the potomac, Weeping Willows swaying in the wind, cherry blossom pedals blowing everywhere. like some Akira Kurosawa samurai love montage.  it was TOO perfect a proposal site. There was even a young attractive couple picnicing nearby with babies and puppies, like a future version of us,  and another couple taking wedding photos. It was juuust a bit too . . . obvious.  So i didnt propose there, i knew she was sorta thinking about it.  i gotta suprise her, ya know?  anyway after that we went to a romantic dinner.  and i didnt propose there either.

then on the walk home i handed her a flashlight and told her to read what was written in the sidewalk cement a block from our house.  I had secretly written in it weeks earlier while it was wet.  I'd been watching the construction on the sidewalk for weeks waiting for my opportunity to write on the cement.  You see, me and Anna sort of have a tradition that whenever we see wet cement we write "Adam N Anna forever" or something similar.  It all started one day in Brooklyn, when we found wet cement walking home.  I started carving "Adam and Anna," and then I paused.  Anna said "you gonna write "Adam and Anna forever"?  I mean, thats a long time.  A big commitment.  You sure your ready for that?"  We had only been dating for like a month so it was kind of a big deal.  So I wrote: "Adam and Anna for a While."  I would have written "for the forseeable future" but it wouldn't fit.

Anyway, back to the story.  I hand Anna the flashlight, and tell her to read whats written in the sidewalk. In big letters it says:

 "Anna will you marry me?"

And after she read it I was on one knee with the ring and she was pretty much crying hysterically. 

She said yes.

Wedding Details

The ceremony will be at the bottom of this fountain, Where the 2 people are standing in the map (right where the camerman was standing when he took the photo below).  It will begin at 2:00 and should be over by 2:45-3:00.

The Cocktail hour and reception are held towards the northeast corner of the park at the Josephine Butler Center. The Center is located at  2437 15th Street, NW Washington DC 20009 - 4101.  It is under the big martini glass on the map above.   The reception is in the big beautiful yellow mansion facing the park, and is hard to miss:

Cocktail hour starts downstairs at ~ 3:30.

Dinner is served at 5:30.

Performances will follow.  Then we put on our bananna costumes and hang out in boxes

Or we can stay in the ballroom and dance the night away. Whatever works.

Dessert is served at 9:00.  Should be Delicious!

"Blue Spruce" will be playing the Ceremony, and during dinner.  Glenn Pearson, the excellent pianist from my excellent Funk band, will be playing the Cocktail hour.
